The Finale of the Read-A-Thon [Aug. 12th, 2012|11:34 pm]
[Tags|, , ]

My goal was to try to finish up 11 books by the end of August the 12th. I managed to complete 6 out of 11 books! I think that's pretty good. To be honest, I pretty much knew I wasn't going to get around to some books.

The List
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi Completed!
Enchanted by Alethea Kontis Completed!
Colibri by Ann Cameron
A Place Where Sunflowers Grow by Amy Lee-Tai
Melodious Songs / 悠扬的歌声 by Zhang Jingyu Completed!
Bend Sinister by Vladimir Nabokov
Il Medico di Corte by Per Olov Enquist
Pasion India by Javier Moro Completed!
The Inconvenient Duchess by Christine Merrill
Across the Nightingale Floor; Episodes 1 & 2 by Lian Hearn Completed!

My biggest accomplishment was finishing Pasion India by Javier Moro. It has taken me a while to finish this book. It is 449 pages long, and in Spanish which is not my native language. I feel really proud with myself for finishing such a long book in another language. I also enjoyed the story so much. I am considering buying another book by Moro.

Shatter Me was a surprise read because I wasn't expecting to like it. Unfortunately it took a little while until the story got a bit interesting. The beginning was hard to get through for multiple reasons. On the other hand, I had high expectations for Enchanted but it wasn't very enjoyable or memorable to me.

Hopefully I can finish at least two or three of the books I did not complete by the end of this month before classes start again. I really need to get my "currently reading" pile down. Then I can go book shopping! :D

I'm so glad that the weather is becoming nice again. It's so warm outside! I just spent 30 minutes on the back deck reading while the cat slept next to me. XD

So, either this year or next year I was thinking about going to Montreal/French Canada with a friend. We were talking about it. It would depend on time and money. :D Hopefully this can happen!

My birthday was three days ago as well. I got a bunch of adobe software for my computer! :D So awesome. I feel like I've gotten a lot of good art work finished just in the beginning of this semester alone. I think I'll have a pretty good portfolio by the end of this semester (just in time for me to look for an internship this summer!).

North Korean - Kimg Jong Il DEAD [Dec. 18th, 2011|10:51 pm]
[Tags|, ]

Kim Jong Il has died. :O

Kimg Jong Un is apparently taking over now as leader. What's going to happen with North Korea now? The country needs a revolution because I'm doubtful that anything will change under Kim Jong Un.

2nd Day of Classes [Sep. 7th, 2011|05:52 pm]
[Tags|, , ]

So, today was the second day of classes. :D I had my Art comics & graphic Novels class, and my Chinese I class. I'm a little tired so I'm not going to write a whole lot today.

Art was what I expected. I expected to love it. XD I know how this guy works so I'm sure I'll do fine in this class. I'm already thinking of ideas and styles for some comic pages!

Chinese I is awesome~ Although, I'm dreading the tones. The teacher seems passionate about the subject, and languages in general (she knows French too, but I'm not sure if she can speak anything else though). She said that we'll learn 200 characters this semester, and if you take Chinese II you'll learn another 200 words. I'm hoping this class give me a good base in the language. We're learning Mandarin Chinese btw of course. :p The text book for this class looks pretty good. It also comes with a exercise book, a character book, and online listening and other activities.
